Oh dear it's the dreaded half chevrons! Okay, could be worse could be those long-legged pointed triangles. These were not actually not too bad.

I decided to use my Folded Corners ruler and it pretty much went exactly as it was supposed to. You probably can't tell from the pictures but I am scaling down the size of a quilt unless it's something that I really really really love.
Since I have been substituting my color scheme this clue, which in Bonnie's quilt was Greens (which I will be using later) I chose to use yellow to represent the beautiful sunshine and some of the lovely hibiscus flowers.
Amazing though what I thought would be plenty of contrast because my background is supposed to represent the Sandy Beach I'm not so sure I got enough contrast with some of my yellows. And along with that my yellows turned out to be in short supply so I had to find some yellows from my friend Carmen's stash that she generously donates to our quilt group on occasion and darn it all, I had to visit the quilt shop and pick up a few pieces fat quarter size. Of course while I was there the owner had to point out to Me fat eighth yardage that American Jane has. Perfect yellows to add to my meager stash. I think it's going to really make a lot of fun vibrant half Square triangles again.
Because I use the folded Corners ruler I needed to make the extra half Square triangles once again with paper. You can see from the picture I wasn't quite done D papering and pressing them but that's okay something I can do while watching TV or chatting with my friends.

Such a beautiful color of hibiscus!
ReplyDeleteI agree...with I had been brave enough to use only the very bright yellow.
