Project Quilting Challenge#6 Chocolate

Yep, that's correct Challenge number 6 for project quilting is chocolate! Couldn't have picked a more favorite item for me to try to recreate. Looks like there may be more than one of us who have fond remembrances of chocolate Easter bunnies especially at this time of the year when Easter is on many people's mind. Saw an inspiration on Pinterest of a darling pillow cover made with strips and an applique chocolate bunny. Luckily I had the perfect chocolate type fabric just waiting for me. Of course I gave him a candy pink eye and instead of the normal pink or blue bow I used yellow because I thought it looked better with all the fabrics. It was fun creating this cute bunny and he will look very nice until Easter arrives. And the great thing is he doesn't have any carbs and he won't melt :-) Check out these other chocolate inspired Creations click here Alert alert! I just realized I forgot his tail I will try and update later :-)

Abecedarius–Challenge 5 of Project QUILTING

It's challenge time again! If I were smarter or my brain were working better I could give you the exact title of the challenge But it includes using letters or words on your project. I decided to do a twofer meeting two different challenges in one quilt. The Second Challenge was a crayon color challenge. We were asked to pick two crayons from a basket blindly. Then we could add 1 neutral, and what other color. Individually both the colors were nice however combining them into one project was a little challenging but isn't that the point? I'm calling this one Spools in the Sewing room. Hope you can read the little applique that I added it's kind of cute. And meets the challenge of words or letters. My crayons were the cheddar gold yellow and the fuchsia or Violet red fabrics added the green blue and the black

Pixel Play Challenge Project Quilting

It's time once again 4 this week's project quilting. Sounded simple enough to me, pixels.  Of course I knew what they were and so used my friend the internet to find an image that I could turn into a quick and easy quilt project. An image that came up was a darling little dolphin that immediately reminded me of my sweet granddaughter Caroline who has her stuffed dolphin, Dolphy. Dolphy is Pink and she really loves to carry him around with her. Not having much choice of my pink Fabrics I was lucky to get the perfect fabric for this project that allowed me to show a bit of dimension in the piecing just using squares. Okay, I can do this! But, it took me much longer than I ever figured it would. Of course then I was unlucky enough to end up with a problem with my back, probably the ruptured disc that I fight with on an ongoing basis. But starting Thursday I created a portrait of dolphy. The pink dolphin will go and live with Caroline after our local quilt show. Don't expec

Project Quilting challenge 10.3

This new Project Quilting Challenge number three is a fun one "Bigger than a Breadbox"... It can be any color any project any theme as long as it measures at least 16 by 8 in. It's nice to have the freedom to create something simple and something that in this case will be very useful. Every year my quilt group in American Fork,  Utah makes  placemats and mug rugs for Meals on Wheels to be delivered to their patrons sometime in December.  So for me this cute Santa and remnants from my stash came together for this Project Quilting challenge Bigger than a Breadbox. Just some simple quilting and someone will be happy to receive it come the Christmas season.

Project quilting Challenge 10.2

The Second Challenge in the project quilting world is red white and blue or any combination of those colors. I decided I could play around with red and white since Valentine's Day is just around the corner. I have the Twister template small and thought it would make a fun valentine heart wall hanging. I gathered together 5 inch red squares and white fat quarters that were in my stash and took it all down  down to St George Utah for our annual Night Group quilting retreat.  I asked one of my friends if I could borrow her twister book but alas she couldn't find it so I figured I could just wing it with images on Pinterest.  Had the grid all laid out and sewn together then came my first mistake! In order to make sure that you have a nice image you have to make sure that your Border in this particular quilt is white, otherwise confusion Reigns. I chose to use one of my very favorite Fabrics in red, oh no! Second thing you needed a much larger space than we had at the condo to l

Project Quilting Challenge 1 Hope

Trying to come up with a translation of Hope to a quilting project was my challenge this week. Project quilting is a fun idea by persimmon dreams quilt ing to try and get you to think beyond what you would normally do in a quilting project. I'm not a art quilter, I'm  I'm definitely a traditional quilt maker but I wanted to try and participate the best way I could. So hope for me is something that I always want to have in my heart and in my life but I also understand that sometimes the things we hope for don't always come to pass. I chose to create a representation of a cancer ribbon combining the blue of all cancers the blue of colon cancer and the lavender or purple of all other cancers. My mother recently dealt with cancer of her colon but we were very blessed that it was found in a place that was easy to treat and even without taking chemotherapy it was still done with surgery and very successfully. I'm hoping that I will still have my mother around for many y

Clue 7 and the Reveal

Bonnie popped in on her blog to post not only a quick quilt cam but also a little intermediate clue. Getting us ready for the reveal that showed up on the final Friday of Clues. Click on the link and you can see where so many of the Quilters for partaking of the mystery have gone with their reveal information. https://bit.ly/2AxNTDE The reveal was everything I had hoped for a wonderful quilt even though I changed all of my colors for my own purposes it still turned out great! My substitutes worked out just fine. Makes me almost wish I decided to do the whole quilt instead of just a portion. I didn't get a chance to do all the blocks I did as many as I could in a couple of days with all the regular activity around our house. When I took the picture it kind of turned out a little bit crooked and definitely I didn't hang it up correctly but, gives a good idea of what I've got in store. As I was doing the pressing VOILA I remembered I had this little tiny iron that I pur
